Falls can result in long hospital stays for older people and can mean a loss of confidence and reduced independence.

We carry out home hazards assessments to help reduce the chance of falls.

Our trained assessor visits homes checking for hazards like loose stair carpets, unsafe rugs or mats. We also look at cooking and bathing safety in kitchens and bathrooms.

There is no eligibility criteria to have a home hazard assessment carried out.

If needed we can fit extra stair rails, fix carpets and supply and fit grab and hand rails. If you live in Stoke-on-Trent and you are older or disabled, we don't charge a labour fee and we may even be able to get some materials free too.
